30-Second Audio Upload
Record 30 seconds of engine audio at idle and at 2000 RPM using any smartphone microphone. Upload via the web form — WAV and MP3 accepted. The pipeline resamples to 44.1 kHz mono for analysis. Recording instructions included; no special hardware needed.
FFT Spectral Analysis
Fast Fourier Transform decomposes the engine audio into frequency components. Known fault signatures — injector knock at firing frequency harmonics, turbo surge sub-harmonic rumble, timing chain rattle across the broad mid-frequency band — are matched directly against the frequency spectrum.
Wavelet Decomposition
Continuous Wavelet Transform (Morlet basis) provides time-frequency resolution that FFT cannot. Transient events like injector misfire are milliseconds long and appear as brief energy concentrations in the wavelet scalogram. Implemented via PyWavelets CWT.
Acoustic Fingerprinting
The Land Rover Puma 2.4 Td4 has a known acoustic fingerprint database covering 97 identified fault modes — compiled from workshop recordings, owner submissions, and Land Rover technical bulletins. Anomaly detection flags deviations from a healthy baseline signature.
PDF Report by Email
The diagnostic report is generated as a formatted PDF and delivered by email within 60 seconds. The report includes a frequency spectrum plot, wavelet scalogram, confidence scores for each detected fault, and suggested next steps. Built with Matplotlib and ReportLab.
97 Fault Mode Database
Covers injector wear patterns, EGR valve fouling signatures, turbocharger bearing degradation, timing chain stretch, fuel pump cavitation, water pump bearing noise, DPF backpressure harmonics, and 90 more. The database grows with every submission.
